OLD RED
November 2000

Back to work. It's November, and we're starting on the tricky stuff. The mounting of the steering column and parking brake control. On Old White, we adapted the original brake pedal to the new brake booster. This time we will use the entire assembly from the '93 Caprice and adapt it to the dash/firewall of the '64. Likewise, we will adapt the pedal-actuated parking brake control fromthe '93 directly to the firewall of the '64.

This plan worked out better than hoped. In just 12 hours of work, the entire changeover was complete! We then had some time to begin the installation of the '93 rear end/suspension onto the frame of the '64.

L to R: Brent begins work under the dash / work in process / welding the adaption under the dash

L to R: Complete installation / complete under dash / from the firewall (ugly, isn't it?)

work begins on the frame to mound the rear suspension

Next month, we'll finish the rear suspension mounting. We'll reinstall the engine/tranny and build the rear tranny mount. We will measure the driveline for the right length. Then we will remove the engine (again). Finally, we will clean up the frame, remove all the suspension stuff in preparation for powder coating. Sound like a lot? It is.
