OLD RED
6 September 2000

After the weekend, Brent and I worked on Labor Day to get the clip finished and Old Red rolling out of the garage. This was a priority, since I am traveling to Ann Arbor to baby sit for Tina while she does some painting and stuff. Meanwhile, Jim is in Switzerland doing some VERY important work on his program at UMich...let him tell you, I don't believe it.

I'll also install some doors, a nice chime doorbell while Jim is gone. It will be just Tina, Ethan and me (plus dogs). VIrg decided to stay home and get me out of her hair for a week.

When I return, Virg and I will be going to Minneapolis to build a barn for Dave and Cherie. This is a very busy Sept. I'm more busy now than I ever was working for HP!

Back to Old Red. Last Friday we clipped the Donor and Target. The new front end from the 93 Chev was carefully aligned to the 64 and tacked in place. Today, Brent does his magic welding and box framing to build a very strong joint where the two come together. It will be a work of art as is usual with Brent.

Left Side boxing

L to R: preparation of left inside box / in process / more in process

L to R: outside box makes a sharp turn to make the transition
from the skinny 64 frame to the fat 93 frame
/ another view of the same transition / finished left outside

Right Side boxing

L to R: Complete inside box / complete outside box / just welding....

L to R: Temporary mounting of fenders and radiator mount for measurement / A lot of measuring before cutting and welding / the moment of truth...cutting of the bumper horns to length
