Frank & Nina live in the Castro Valley, in the east bay of San Francisco; just north of Hayward. Frank is the superintendent of schools in Orinda, through the tube into the valley.
They live in a great place on the side of a hill overlooking the Castro Valley. Frank has built a vineyard on the steep slope, not without some physical damage to himself, from which he has fully recovered. This
building of vineyards on steep slopes is, I believe a bit genetic; in Italy there are vineyards on slopes that even goats would have a hard time negotiating...goats no, but Italians yes.
Mel, Gail and I visited them in October 00, and some of the pix are below.
